چکیده
Isothermal turbulent flow around circular cylinders arranged side-by-side was numerically simulated on a commercial finite-volumes platform, ANSYS® CFX, version 2020 R2. The turbulence modeled by using k-ω shear stress transport (k-ω SST). Three different Reynolds numbers were computed, Red = 200, 1000, and 3000, which based the cylinder diameter, d, free stream velocity, U∞, kinematic viscosity of fluid, ν. Sided spaced apart from each other, forming p/d ratio equal to 2, kept constant throughout computations regardless changes in number. drag coefficient, Cd, as well its time traces, evaluated along with wake topologies experienced (wide WW narrow NW). simulations able predict bistable over Cd associated wakes. Whenever new topology identified, shape changed accordance instantaneous pressure distribution. A laminar simulation carried out for lowest number case, showing that adopted model did not affect dynamic response flow. 3000 case compared Afgan’s outcomes, whose 3-D mesh LES (Large Eddy Simulation), great agreement their results.

Aerodynamic loads on cactus-shaped cylinders at low Reynolds numbers
Direct numerical simulations of flow past cactus-shaped cylinders are performed at Reynolds numbers of 20, 100, and 300. The results are contrasted to those from smooth cylinders at the same Reynolds numbers. The cavities in the cactus-shaped cylinders are seen to reduce the forces acting on them. At Reynolds number of 20, the drag is reduced by 22% due to reduction in the viscous forces. At Re...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Analysis of Flow Past a Solid-Sphere at Low Reynolds Numbers with the Aid of Body Fitted Coordinates
In this paper, the flow-field of an incompressible viscous flow past a solid-sphere at low Reynolds numbers (up to 270) is investigated numerically. In order to extend the capabilities of the finite volume method, the boundary (body) fitted coordinates (BFC) method is used. Transformation of the partial differential equations to algebraic relations is based on the finite-volume method with coll...

متن کاملObservation of Karman Vortex Street on Flowing Soap Film behind Cylinders at Low Reynolds Numbers
Introduction. The Karman-vortex street formed behind two-dimensional bluff bodies has attracted interest because of its beautiful flow pattern. It goes without saying that this beautifulness results from the alternative vortices regularly shed from the body. Vortex shedding induces aerodynamic force perpendicular to the mean flow. This force causing mechanical vibration of the model is accompan...
